Microsoft Calls Sony A Great Gaming Brand And Wishes Them A Good E3

Poor Nintendo is always left out of stuff like this.

For all of the console wars bullshit that surrounds the rivalry between Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, the companies behind the systems seem to be mostly mature in how they conduct themselves. Case in point: Microsoft’s latest statement on Sony as a gaming company, and regarding the upcoming face off they are about to have at E3 next week.

“I don’t think Sony is intimidated. Sony is a great brand and strong team,” he said. “Competition is good. They’ll have a good E3.”

Microsoft has been unusually humble about the competition in recent months (which probably makes sense considering the sheer amount of bad PR they have built up since the Xbox One’s initial unveil last May anyway), and this is just another such statement in a long line of them.

However, Spencer wasn’t just talking up the competition- he also discussed improvements made to the Xbox One development kit, and how they might lead to easier and better development processes for game developers.

“June #XboxOne software dev kit gives devs access to more GPU bandwidth. More performance, new tools and flexibility to make games better.” This update, along with a line of other improvements that Microsoft has been making to the Xbox One development process, such as the introduction of DirectX APIs and the decoupling of the Kinect from the console, will hopefully go a long way towards making the Xbox One a competitive console for the remainder of what promises to be a long console cycle.
