Halo Escalation

Remember when Marty O’Donnell, the renowned composer of Bungie’s famed Halo series, was abruptly let go from the developer with no explanation given? It seems that O’Donnel has recently settled with chief executive Harold Ryan in a lawsuit over unpaid wages.

Venture Beat reports that the King County Superior Court has directed Ryan to pay more than $95,000, covering damages, unpaid work, vacation time and legal fees.

The lawsuit was filed on May 1st after O’Donnel was suddenly fired from the developer on April 11th “without cause”. Bungie had provided no explanation as to why O’Donnel was fired but its policy dictated that it pay out any benefits accrued by the employee including vacation time that had gone unused, paid leaves and much more.

Ryan has agreed to pay O’Donnel though the developer wasn’t officially available for comment on the matter. Stay tuned for more information and let us know what you think of these developments thus far.
