As I have mentioned before, music is one of the most vital parts of any game created these days. Without good music, it’s a tough job trying to get the player emotionally invested in the game or character. Music has had an healing effect on people and it could go so far as to make the most hard hearted person believe in something great and hopeful. Music establishes a psychological and emotional connection to the player, and it amplifies their emotional response.
Every great video game has great music, and in this feature, we look at, and celebrate, the very best soundtracks for video games that were released in the last year or so.

The Last of Us: Left Behind
Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us was already a masterpiece of story telling and audience engagement when it first released in 2013, and 2014’s Left Behind expansion continued with that trend. And aside from the gameplay, the story, and the adorable characters, the music played such a huge part in the game. Each guitar string can be heard and each note has a meaning to it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt such emotions for characters in a game like this, the music makes it feel so real. And the music makes you, and possibly other people who aren’t into gaming, feel that gaming is more to it than just blood and violence, it makes you feel that gaming has matured and evolved to levels far beyond we could have hoped for.
