Overwatch Blizzard

Blizzard Entertainment dazzled us with its online multiplayer first person shooter Overwatch when it was first announced at Blizzon 2014. As the PvP portion of the abandoned Project Titan MMO, it impressed audiences with its visual style and intriguing gameplay. Though the beta is scheduled for later this year, Overwatch may not be named as such when it finally releases.

NeoGAF recently dug up the suspension of Overwatch’s two trademark applications by the USPTO. This is due to a previous trademark filed by Innovis Labs, Inc. for the name Overwatch. Unless Innovis abandons its trademark application or allows Blizzard to use the name, its applications will remain suspended.

This isn’t to say that Blizzard couldn’t pursue the matter so we’ll have to wait and see what the developer does on this front. Will Overwatch’s name be changed before the game is finally out? We’ll find out in the coming months so stay tuned for more information.
