CD Projekt RED on The Witcher 3: There Is No Downgrade

'We have to get the best performance possible.'

Witcher 3

New footage and media came out for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the third and (assumedly) final installment in CD Projekt RED’s celebrated role playing game series, and when it did, a lot of gamers, who have been waiting for the highly ambitious sequel with bated breath, cried foul- in a story that is becoming all too familiar this generation, fans alleged that the graphics of the game had been downgraded from the game’s initial showing.

However, now the art director of the game, Michal Stec, has spoken out, clarifying that there is no downgrade of graphics as far as The Witcher 3 is concerned.

“No. That’s the answer. We are not downgrading it. We are optimizing the game but in a way that doesn’t affect the visuals. So there is a lot of work for us, and this is also one of the reasons why we delayed the game. Because we still have to optimize it to get the best performance for you guys as possible.”

I mean, personally, it still looks okay, but as I have already noted, I am not as impressed with The Witcher 3’s graphics any more as I used to be- whether that is because there is an actual downgrade, or because the shine of The Witcher 3’s graphics has worn off after seeing them so many times for so long, without actually getting to play the game, is what I am not clear on anymore.
