Super Smash Bros

Nintendo has just had an amazing year last year, with a relentless barrage of great games all around on both, the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U, and it looks like the market is rewarding them for it.

We have already reported that Nintendo turned a profit; but for Nintendo as a game maker, the most important thing for it is perhaps its games, and how they perform, and since last March, 12 Nintendo games managed to sell over 1 million units worldwide, a lot of them older evergreen games adding substantial amounts to their lifetime sales, and answering the question of why Nintendo does not drop the price on its games once and for all.

These games were:

  • Pokemon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire (3DS) (9.35 million/9.35 million)
  • Super Smash Bros. for 3DS (3DS) (6.19 million/6.19 million)
  • Mario Kart 8 (Wii U) (4.77 million/4.77 million)
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (Wii U) (3.39 million/3.39 million)
  • Tomodachi Life (3DS) (2.11 million/3.96 million)
  • Mario Kart 7 (3DS) (1.8 million/11.42 million)
  • Super Mario 3D World (Wii U) (1.62 million/3.79 million)
  • Pokemon X/Y (3DS) (1.45 million/13.7 million)
  • Nintendo Land (Wii U) (1.35 million/4.44 million)
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) (1.19 million/9.01 million)
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) (1.07 million/8.03 million)
  • Kirby Triple Deluxe (3DS) (1.07 million/1.7 million)

It’s a good lineup of games, and it’s good that it did well. Here’s hoping Nintendo can keep it up this year.
