Rise of the Tomb Raider: Animations, QTEs And More Detailed

Sounds pretty dang neat, honestly.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (12)

Rise of the Tomb Raider, (currently) exclusive to Xbox 360 and Xbox One, was always going to be a big game; however, now, with the delay of Uncharted on PlayStation 4 and Zelda on Wii U, it’s got a clear window in the holiday season all to itself. And so, everything that we hear about the game becomes more and more appealing.

For instance, consider all of this new information about the game that comes directly from the Creative Director Noah Hughes. It all sounds pretty damn exciting.

For instance, he confirmed dynamic and contextual damage, not just for Lara Croft herself (such as bruises and scratches that appeared as and where they should), but also for her gear and attire, just like in the previous game; he confirmed the inclusion of little touches that will make the entire game world seem more real. For instance, when Lara approaches to a fire will try to warm up her hands, when she steps back out into the cold, she shivers for a moment as she adjusts to the temperature. He also confirmed that there will be no running weapon. He wants to remove automated platforming and traversal, and wants players to actually puzzle out navigation.

All in all, it sounds that with this game, the series may be beginning to return to its roots, which modern games in the series, including the 2013 reboot, had increasingly begun to stray from.

Rise of the Tomb Raider launches later this year on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
