Fallout 4 Was Announced So Late To Relieve Stress On Dev Team – Bethesda

Fallout 4

When it became clear that Bethesda was going to officially unveil Fallout 4 at E3 this year, there were more than a few people who expected the game to have a 2016 or even 2017 release date. When the company announced that it was going to be releasing the next title in the long running series this November, there were more than a few people with raised eyebrows.

Ever since that release date was announced, there have also been more than a few people who wondered whether the company was giving itself enough time to come up with a finished product. It turns out, the company waited as long as it did to make an announcement so that it would have enough time to get Fallout 4 out this year. VP of Marketing Pete Hines sat down with Dualshockers at Gamescom and told the website that the company took as long as it did to announce in order to reduce the stress on the development team.

Hines said that the longer a promotional period is going on, the more strain it puts on the development team because they have to work on things like putting together demos. Hines added that the marketing campaign for Fallout 4 is one of the shortest Bethesda has ever carried out, and he’s not sure whether they will do this kind of thing with other games. Considering just how big and bold Fallout 4 is expected to be, with all kinds of options to craft you world, including bases, it makes sense that Bethesda wanted to put as little emphasis on creating demos that don’t do the game justice as possible.
