Quantum Break

Remedy Entertainment’s Quantum Break will be releasing next year for Xbox One and has seen quite the journey – it was first announced in May 2013 when the Xbox One was initially revealed and has been in development ever since. One would assume that there were issues along the way but for creative director Sam Lake, it’s about taking as much time as possible to deliver on all fronts.

This includes the gameplay, technology, universe and much more. Speaking to EDGE (via GamesRadar), Lake said, “There’s a lot of new technology; [Xbox One is] a new platform, it’s a new universe, new story, there’s new core gameplay.

“[That means] a lot of prototyping, and a lot of discovery. On the whole [TV show] side, there are a lot of challenges to figure out. It does end up taking time and, yes, we want to keep the quality high, so we don’t want to make certain kinds of compromises, and are always making sure that this is iterated enough and polished enough and it’s as good as it deserves to be.”

It’s not like Remedy is only used to long development times. As Lake pointed out, Max Payne took 18 months to develop but, “Doing a sequel to something is obviously different to building something from the ground up.”

Quantum Break is out on April 5th 2016 for Xbox One.
