Despite the awkward co-op gameplay showcased at Microsoft’s E3 presser, Rare’s Sea of Thieves seems to be gathering some positive reception among attendees. That being said, it seems it will be skipping this year in favour of early 2017.

Speaking to Kinda Funny, Xbox Games marketing head Aaron Greenberg said, “Sea of Thieves is coming out in [February with] Scalebound, [and] a lot more titles. This is our biggest games lineup we’ve ever had over the next year. As a first-party we will publish and release more games and more exclusives than we ever have.”

Perhaps the more important thing to glean from this statement is that Scalebound will be out in the same month and will be competing with another open world action RPG Horizon: Zero Dawn, which is out on February 28th 2017 for PS4.

It should be interesting to see how Sea of Thieves and Scalebound perform especially now that they’re confirmed for Windows 10 as well as Xbox One.
