Mass Effect Andromeda: Upcoming Novels Will Fill In The Gap Between Upcoming Game And Original Trilogy

They also sound like they'll be actual good video game tie in novels for a change.

Mass Effect Andromeda

We discussed recently how Bioware were making it so that the choices at the end of Mass Effect 3 would not necessarily influence Mass Effect Andromeda‘s story (even though the direction that the story was taking was definitely going to be influenced by the ending of that game). This is happening, in part, because of the massive gap in time between the two games’ stories- meaning that there is a huge portion of the narrative that one can argue is unaccounted for by the games.

Well, apparently, that gap will be filled in by four upcoming Mass Effect novels, starting next month, which will flesh out this gap in time.

“The novels will act as prequel and sequels to the events in the games and will become part of the overarching Mass Effect saga. They will focus on key characters and answer the many questions fans have been asking,” Titan Books, the guys publishing the books, said.

For now, only two authors have been confirmed- N.K. Jemisin, whose debut novel was nominated for both, the Nebula and Hugo Awards, and Mac Walters, who has been custodian of the Mass Effect franchise at Bioware for a while, now. So normally, even though I wouldn’t recommend video game tie in novels – they are forgettable at best, and outright terrible at worst – these ones seem to have some legitimate talent backing them, so maybe fans of the games want to take a look at these.
