With Square Enix finally launching Final Fantasy 15 last year, and with the impending launch of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Prologue, that finally consolidates all of the franchise’s story so far on one platform, and sets u and segues very nicely into Kingdom Hearts 3, you’d probably think that we’re not that far out from Kingdom Hearts 3‘s launch, right? Maybe we’ll even see it later this year?
Well, about that… don’t go expecting that to happen. In an interview with Famitsu, translated by Siliconera, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Kingdom Hearts 3, explained that the release for the game was still a while away, with there being entire worlds that work hasn’t yet even started on.
“The production process is different than what we’ve had up until now, so I can’t just give you a general idea, but I can say that there are worlds that still remain untouched. We’ve advanced on the production of worlds that have yet to be announced, so we can’t show them for now. As far as development status goes, there’s still a ways to go.”
So… there’s that. I suppose Kingdom Hearts fans will have to content themselves with the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2.8, as well as Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5, which are re-releases of re-releases, to pass the time until then.
