The Division Update 1.6 Adds Contamination Events, Exotic Items, Legendary Missions and More

Lots of new changes coming in update 1.6.

Ubisoft Massive has posted some hefty patch notes for its upcoming update 1.6 for Tom Clancy’s The Division. There’s a lot to cover, such as the inclusion of Dark Zone 7-9, and it’s worth reading all of it but there are some interesting points that stand out.

Contamination Events will now occur “roughly every hour” in underground locations in the Dark Zone featuring elite Cleaner enemies. The catch is that the virus contamination is much higher so you have to act quickly and manage your health.

A new Legendary difficulty has also been announced – it’s described as the most “challenging content in the game” and meant for groups to experience. There will be new LMB enemies with devious tactics and will reward players with vanity items unavailable in other activities on top of rewards like Exotic Caches. The first three missions for Legendary difficulty will be Times Square, WarrenGate Power Plant and Napalm Production Site.

The new Exotic gear is interesting because it’s basically used to describe Named Gear and Weapons. Each Named Weapon will have an interesting perk now like the Tenebrae resetting skill cooldowns for your party if you destroy the weak point on an enemy. There will also be Exotic weapon sets which only work when the two corresponding weapons are equipped together (such as Hildr and Eir, formerly one gun called the Valkyria). Exotic Caches can be earned by completing Legendary difficulty missions.
