Overwatch Dev Clarifies Efi Oladele’s Role in New Hero’s Story

New playable character still not confirmed.

Since the reveal of Efi Oladele for Blizzard’s Overwatch, fans have been speculating on who the next hero could be. Many have posited the idea that Efi, a genius in AI and robotics, creates a four-legged tank of sorts called Anchora. As it stands, Efi herself won’t be the next hero.

This was clarified by director Jeff Kaplan in a recent piece by Polygon. Kaplan said that while Efi will “play a part” in the next playable character’s story, the character has yet to be confirmed.

It’s an interesting clarification because it lends credence to Efi possibly creating Anchora and having it fight for her, staying out of harm’s way in the process. Perhaps the rumours are true and Efi just builds the “successor” Doomfist with the famed gauntlet?

Whatever the case may be, Blizzard continues to tease us with its next hero reveal. What are your thoughts on who it could be? Let us know in the comments.
