Overwatch PTR Update Nerfs Bastion, Zarya

Defense hero still cancerous in live game.

Though Orisa, the newest Tank hero to join Overwatch, is the current highlight of the PTR server, it’s even more important for the adjustments being made to Bastion. Director Jeff Kaplan noted that changes would be coming in light of complaints and that appears to be the case. Sort of.

The main source of complaints has been Bastion’s new passive ability Ironclad which allows him to take 35 percent less damage when in Sentry or Tank mode. This led to a near state of immortality with Ana’s Nano Boost, never mind a Mercy constantly healing him. However, the damage reduction from Ironclad has been dropped to 20 percent on the PTR. Will this make him less a cancer on the meta? Time will tell.

In the meantime, Zarya has also seen a nerf with her barriers no longer protecting her or allies from knockback. Some theorize that with Orisa’s Fortify ability negating all CC effects that this could be a way to make her more unique while also slighting nerfing Zarya’s viability.
