Horizon: Zero Dawn Opening Sequence Issue Affecting Some Players, Guerrilla Looking Into A Fix

Hopefully a fix comes soon.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a great game, and a surprisingly great first attempt at a modern open world from a studio that has previously never done anything like it. Players around the world appear to be greatly enjoying the game, too- but it looks like some of them are running into problems along the way.

As The Wolf Hall reports, some players are reporting that the game locks up during the opening sequence of the game, prompting to players having to skip the sequence entirely if they want to play the game. Sometimes the problem persists afterwards, with the game refusing to even boot up.

The issue, it turns out, is with the discs- apparently there is some corruption of data in a small number of them, and this is creating problems. Guerrilla Games have stated that they are aware of the problem, however, and that they are looking into a fix. “We’re aware that a small number of players have encountered an issue while viewing the opening cinematic of Horizon Zero Dawn. We apologize for the inconvenience, and want to assure you that we’re currently looking at the problem and investigating solutions.”

Hopefully the fix, whatever it is, comes soon. Horizon is currently out on PS4 exclusively.z
