Bloodstained Ritual of the Night

Yet another game scheduled to release on the Nintendo Wii U has been dropped in favour of the recent Switch. This time, it’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the much-anticipated spiritual successor to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Director Koji “IGA” Igarashi announced the news on the game’s Kickstarter, apologizing to those who wanted a Wii U version. “During our Kickstarter campaign [in 2015], the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch.

“This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch. We are very sorry that it has come to this after all your support, but we hope you will understand.”

Those who backed the project can either request a refund or choose a different version instead. If you want a Switch copy after having backed the Wii U version, then you’ll receive the same without having to take action. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is currently slated to release in 2018.
