Overwatch PTR Update 1.12 Removes “Rate This Match”, Director Explains Why

Feature "not getting tremendous results" says Jeff Kaplan.

Blizzard Entertainment’s latest update for Overwatch, which is currently live on the PC Public Test Realm, has been a rather interesting change among the many explained thus far. It’s removed the “Rate This Match” feature, a three-star system which players could mess with when matches ended.

On asking Blizzard for an explanation as to its removal on the PTR – since this means it will be removed from the live game when the patch goes live – director Jeff Kaplan replied, “We had high hopes for this feature but after a year of the game being live and an extended period in beta, all we learned from the feature was [that] new players used the Rate this Match feature more than existing players.

“[That] players enjoy winning, [and that] players do not enjoy losing. We want to reduce as much clutter in the UI as possible and seeing as we were not getting tremendous results from the feature, we decided to remove it.”

Given how the feature was never really explained from day one, it’s probably better that it’s removed. Are you sad about it? Let us know in the comments.
