Assassin’s Creed Origins is probably one of the most anticipated games for the remainder of the year, and for good reason too. It seems to be exactly what fans of the series have been clamouring for for years, exactly the kind of breath of fresh air that Assassin’s Creed seems to be in need for after years of re-iteration. Origins is changing up a lot of things, but the one thing that the game will have that will be markedly different than anything else in the series will be its combat.

Combat has for long been one of the things that Assassin’s Creed has failed to do just right ever since its beginning, but it seems like Ubisoft are changing things up in Origins. IGN recently released a video (you can view it below) in which the game’s director Ashraf Ismail explains the changes made to the combat system in great detail, and there’s a lot to talk about. Ismail also talks about the game’s arena, which is definitely an interesting addition. We’ve already spoken about this previously, so you can read our older report for background info.

“When we started this project almost four years ago now, we had just finished Black Flag,” says Ismail in the video. “And we had this intention to say, ‘how can we bring something new to AC [Assassin’s Creed]? We wanted to modernize AC, we wanted to refresh the experience, and so we set a goal for ourselves to reinvent what it means to be Assassin’s Creed.”

You can watch the full video below and see the latest combat system, various weapons, enemy types and the new arena in action, while also hearing game director Ismail talk about them. It’s interesting stuff. Assassin’s Creed Origins releases on October 27 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on the game.
