Xbox One X’s Full Potential Won’t Be Held Back By Its CPU, Says Observer Dev

Bloober Team’s Observer is finally out and despite our own review scoring it in the slightly above average range, it’s been met with positive critical acclaim thus far. With the game releasing on PS4, Xbox One and PC, what are the development team’s thoughts on the game potentially running on Xbox One X?

GamingBolt spoke to brand manager Rafał Basaj about the power of the Xbox One X and whether Observer would run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on the upgraded console. Basaj responded that, “The Xbox One X is still a few months shy from release, we will disclose any information regarding Observer on this console closer to the release date of the hardware.”

In our opinion, the Xbox One X’s CPU is not an impressive iteration over the original found in Xbox One. Although there have been improvements in clock speed and command processor instructions, the leap isn’t as impressive as in the case of the GPU and memory allocation. In other words the CPU is still a bit weak compared to other improvements in the box. Would said CPU weakness prevent the console from reaching its full potential? Thankfully, Basaj had a few words to offer on the Xbox One X and its CPU.

Basaj responded that, “The Xbox One X is closer in specs to the PC gaming rigs right now, which will always benefit developers releasing their games on multiple platforms. As long as the GPU is solid a lot of calculating can be moved from the CPU to the video card, so it shouldn’t be a huge problems for developers to fully realize the potential of the new console.”

The Xbox One X will release on November 7th and will support numerous games like Crackdown 3, Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 out of the box (and with updates).
