Mass Effect Andromeda: BioWare Confirms There Won’t Be Any Single Player DLC

Sad day for fans of the franchise.

Mass Effect: Andromeda’s lukewarm reception and less than impressive sales have resulted in EA putting the series “on ice”, and we’ve been suspecting for some time now that we won’t see any new significant additions to the franchise for a while yet, if ever, and BioWare have now confirmed that that will indeed be the case. Mass Effect: Andromeda won’t be receiving any future single player content or story related DLC in the future.

BioWare have confirmed in an official blog post that Andromeda will continue receiving multiplayer updates and multiplayer-only content, but that’s going to be it as far as support for the game going into the future is concerned. The story of Andromeda left off with several unanswered questions and semi-cliffhangers, and while BioWare have promised to finish a lot of those stories, like the one about the Quarian ark, with comics and novels, there won’t be any single-player DLC for Andromeda.

“Our last update, 1.10, was the final update for Mass Effect: Andromeda,” BioWare writes in the update. “There are no planned future patches for single-player or in-game story content. In the coming weeks, our multiplayer team will provide details of their ongoing support and upcoming content, including new multiplayer missions, character kits, and what’s in store for N7 Day.”

This also seems to suggest that if BioWare and EA should ever choose to return to the Mass Effect series, it will be with something completely new. It’s starting to seem more and more with each update that they are distancing themselves from Andromeda, and it seems unlikely that they will ever properly return to it.
