Xbox One X 6 TFLOPs GPU And 12GB Memory Hasn’t Been A Factor For Us Since We Started On PC – Dev

The Xbox One X is going to be the most powerful console ever made when it launches in a couple of weeks from now- with a 6TFLOPs GPU, and 12GB of GDDR5 RAM, it runs circles around any other console or handheld available on the market.

So, of course, for console only developers, the system’s specs are a great deal. But what about for developers who primarily work with PC? PC gaming has had access to even higher end specs for a while now- what do they think of the Xbox One X?

That was what we asked Ghost Ship Games founder and CEO Søren Lundgaard, who are working on Deep Rock Galactic, and bringing it over to the Xbox One X. According to Lundgaard, the Xbox One X’s 6 TFLOPs GPU or additional RAM was not even a factor for them, since they started development on PC. That said, he did acknowledge that it was easier to get things running on the system at a desirable level of performance.

“Since we started out on PC, it has not really been a factor for us other than it was less problematic to get things running in a nice FPS,” he said in an exclusive interview with GamingBolt.

He also confirmed that the game will support 4K and HDR- but he can’t commit to it running in 60 frames per second in 4K on the Xbox One X. “Yes, we will support 4K and HDR. The game is a first-person-shooter, so we all know 60fps is desirable, but not something we can promise in 4K. We’ll see,” he added.

Hopefully, at least an option to play the game at 60 frames (at a lower resolution) is added, much like so many other games seem to be resorting to these days. The Xbox One X launches on November 7.
