Monster Hunter World looks tremendous- like the kind of next generation evolution for the franchise that fans have been waiting for for years. So it should come as no surprise that, as Capcom revealed in a recent Q&A session with investors during a financial call, the game has been received extremely well worldwide in all of its showings so far.
“This title received high praise at the Tokyo Game Show as well as other events all over the world, and we feel that our users are currently very satisfied with it. Going forward, we look to maximize sales by carrying out robust promotional activities not only in Japan, but also in the North American and European markets as well,” they said.
In the past, Capcom’s developers have openly spoken out against abusive monetization and microtransactions in Monster Hunter World; Capcom itself, for the time being, however, declined to comment on how it plans to monetize the title, saying only that it had nothing to share at this time beyond what has already been made public.
I hope they stick to not abusively and excessively monetizing Monster Hunter– it’s a fantastic series, and now that it has a chance of gaining more widespread adoption, players will hopefully automatically feel compelled to continue to invest in the game when the chance arises.
