God of War Leaked PS4 Footage Showcases Awesome Combat

Update: And it's gone.

Update: The video has been taken down by Sony.

Original story:

Gameplay footage for SIE Santa Monica’s God of War on PS4 has been released sooner than expected. It was taken down but fortunately, nothing is ever truly deleted from the internet. Vincent Vega on YouTube has the mirror – check it out below.

The footage looks very similar to the setting seen in the E3 2016 debut trailer. We get a much closer at the combat here and despite Kratos only having an enchanted axe, he can still execute a flurry of combos. Enemies can be knocked about with heavy and light attacks, juggled in the air and even pierced by the thrown axe. In true Thor style, the axe will return to Kratos if thrown. You can also use a shield to parry attacks and unleash special abilities.

Overall, it looks incredibly enticing though we’re curious how seamless movement will be. The overall exploration lacks the platforming of previous titles but makes up for it with interesting lore, detailed environments and a more deliberate pace.

God of War is out on April 20th for PlayStation 4. What are your thoughts on the leaked footage? Let us know in the comments.
