The next generation of consoles is often discussed though it’s unlikely we’ll hear much about it from this year’s E3. Sony is focusing on its upcoming game announcements and it hasn’t even been a year for Microsoft’s Xbox One X. Nevertheless, what would some developers like to see from the next PlayStation and Xbox?

GamingBolt spoke to Richard Hill-Whittall, director and owner of Super Icon Ltd which is working on PlataGO. Currently on Steam Early Access, the platformer allows users to create their own platforming games using simple drag and drop tools. We asked Hill-Whittall about his biggest expectation from the next generation and he believed VR support was one key aspect.

“I think more VR support, particularly from Microsoft, I think this may well be the biggest focus for the next gen of hardware. I’d like to see VR options included as standard, although costs make that unlikely,” said Hill-Whittall.

With 4K resolution gaming being the big thing nowadays (even if many developers have to rely on checkerboarding and other such methods to achieve it), will the next console generation signal the beginning of the 4K/60 FPS era?

“Most definitely – 4K makes such a huge visual difference on many games, it is becoming more essential now there are more 4K TVs in people’s homes. And 60FPS is more and more essential, you notice frame-rate more on a beautiful 4K display.”

Microsoft’s E3 2018 presser will be taking place on June 10th while Sony’s E3 presser is scheduled for June 11th. Even without big hardware announcements, it should be interesting to see where both companies go for the foreseeable future.
