In a recent conference call with investors, Electronic Arts announced that its new subscription-based Origin Access Premier service would be going live on July 30th. The service will cost $14.99 per month or $100 per year.

Origin Access in its current form will be called “Basic” while maintaining many of the same features, including early trials for upcoming games, The Vault, and a 10 percent discount on Origin Store content. Origin Access Premier will up the ante further by offering all of this along with access to all previous EA games. If you’re not interested in waiting for previous EA games to hit the Vault several months later, then this might be for you.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen stated, “We do know from our EA Access experience and our Origin Access experience for non-frontline titles that we find people play twice as many games for twice as long and spend twice as much money as they did outside, or before they joined the subscription. That’s what led us to believe that frontline titles would be also very advantageous to the subscription, as well as help drive new users into the system.”

The subscription’s biggest advantage is early access to upcoming new releases like Madden NFL 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield 5 and Anthem. These “frontline” games can be played five days before their official release dates. Those who already have Origin Access will receive an option to upgrade, but more information is still to come.
