Twin Mirror

Supermassive’s Man of Medan isn’t the only adventure game that Bandai Namco has in store for us. The publisher announced last year that it had entered a partnership with Dontnod Entertainment, developer of Life is Strange, for a new IP. That new IP was later revealed to be Twin Mirror, and Bandai Namco just announced at Gamescom that its first episode “Lost on Arrival” is out in early 2019.

Senior producer Fabrice Cambounet stated, “We are very excited to reveal two of our major gameplay features for Twin Mirror here at Gamescom. We believe this is a good insight into our unique narrative approach, having gameplay features intertwined within the story we want to tell. We can’t wait for the players to uncover the secrets hidden in Twin Mirror with the first episode in 2019!”

Twin Mirror focuses on investigative journalist Sam, who finds himself caught up in a mystery. Waking up in a motel room with a bloody shirt and no memory, Sam must figure out what’s going on. To do this, he’ll use the Mind Palace, a skill that allows for recreating past memories and different scenarios. Gameplay shifts back and forth between the real world and the Mind Palace as Sam works to unlock his memories.

Then there’s The Double, a sarcastic version of Sam that represents his inner voice. Though The Double has some advice, it’s unknown exactly where his best interests lie. Suffice it to say, it’ll be on players whether to trust him or not.

Twin Mirror will release on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with three episodes in total planned. Check out the newest trailer below.
