"I think folks enjoyed and appreciated them."

Bethesda has been one of the standout third party supporters for the Nintendo Switch, putting major games on the system, and continuing to announce Switch versions of its future games. This continued investment in the platform would have you believe that their Switch games have done well for them, right? Surely they wouldn’t support a system if they weren’t making money off of it.

Speaking to IGN, Bethesda’s VP of Marketing Pete Hines noted that all of Bethesda’s games for the system have gone on to be hugely popular, and that was what led to the decision by the company to announce DOOM Eternal as a day and date Switch release.

“[DOOM] was hugely popular – all of the stuff that we did,” he said. “I think folks enjoyed and appreciated [them] – and we wanted to make sure to say right up front that this is a title we want to bring to Switch, and we think it’s gonna be another awesome experience.”

Which makes sense- and it’s good to see that Bethesda’s going out on a limb to support the Switch where few other western third parties would has turned out well for them. They are building an audience for their games on Nintendo platforms, where other companies are sleeping on the opportunity.

DOOM Eternal launches on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC some time in 2019.
