It looks like AMD has been building upon their key partnerships in the gaming industry, and this includes their partnership with both Microsoft and Sony. Given that both companies make the two big “HD” consoles out there, so to speak, AMD caters to both their specific needs. In an interview with CNBC, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su discussed the company’s key partnerships.

Regarding their partnerships with Microsoft and Sony, Su stated, “We very much appreciate our partnerships with all of our key customers. Microsoft is a leader, certainly in Windows. We’re partnered with them in game consoles. I think we have a vision of where cloud computing is going, and we’re working closely with them.”

Although they are working on cloud computing, the company will still focus on cloud customers and PC customers without prioritizing one over the other. At the end of the day, it seems like AMD is helping both Microsoft and Sony get the best out of their consoles according to their specific needs. Su stated, “I think that’s what makes us unique is we’re working with both Sony and Microsoft on consoles, and they both have their specific secret sauce that we’re helping them do.”

A few months back, we reported on the fact that Sony was working on AMD Ryzen compiler improvements, which may or may not have something to do with the PS5. Additionally, other recent reports also claimed that AMD’s Navi architecture was created specifically for Sony and the PS5.
