Take-Two CEO Remains Tight-Lipped On Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Version

"I can’t really give you too much clarity," says Strauss Zelnick.

Whether or not there will be a PC release for Red Dead Redemption 2, arguably the biggest video game launch this console generation, has been a question that has been on the minds of millions. In spite of mounting speculation, and evidence from Rockstar’s own companion app for the game suggesting that a PC version is in the pipeline, there’s been no official confirmation either way from either Rockstar, or Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company.

In Take-Two’s recently held earnings call with investors, CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked once again about a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, but he remained predictably tight lipped on the situation, saying that there’s nothing to announce as of now, and if there is an announcement to be made, Rockstar will asses it and make it themselves in the future.

“In terms of ongoing releases, Rockstar will talk about what their intentions are going forward with regard to all upcoming products and that the same would hold true for platform,” Zelnick said. “So, in this particular instance, I can’t really give you too much clarity, apologies.”

So if you’ve been waiting for an announcement for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, you might have to wait a bit longer. Even though there’s no official word on it yet, it does seem likely that it will eventually happen, given the files found in the aforementioned companion app. Meanwhile, industry analyst Michael Pachter also believes that the game will be launching on PC by April of 2019. Read more on that through here.

In their earnings call, Take-Two also confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 has already shipped 17 million units worldwide, selling as much in just eight days as the first Red Dead Redemption has in total since its launch. It was also confirmed that the Red Dead Online beta will be launching at the end of this month.
