Nintendo’s recently released ambitious crossover fighter, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is selling like peanuts, as most would have expected it would.  Nintendo has announced via a press release that the game has sold over 3 million titles in the US within just 11 days of its launch.

This also means that that Smash Ultimate has become the fastest selling game in the Super Smash Bros. series of all time. Given the pace of the sales, it’s also likely that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will have become the highest selling exclusive in its launch month across any system of all time in the US by the end of the month. This, of course, isn’t mentioned by Nintendo, but seeing as Halo 3, which currently holds that crown, sold 3.3 million units in the US within its first month, and Ultimate is already above 3 million, it’s likely that it will have crossed that figure by the end of the month.

Nintendo also released software sales figures for some of their other big Switch exclusives. Evergreen Switch behemoths The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have continued to sell strongly in the US, with all three having been on the market for well over a year. Breath of the Wild is sitting at over 4 million units sold in the US to date, with Super Mario Odyssey having sold 4.7 million, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe having sold over 5 million units.

Considering Nintendo’s recent statement that all three of these games have an attach rate of over 50 per cent, these figures should come as no surprise. Given the sales of Smash Ultimate, that, too, will likely be joining this group sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, the recently released Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! have also collectively sold over 2 million units, while Super Mario Party, which launched shortly before them, sits at sales of 1.4 million units.

The seminal Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been selling strongly all across the world. It topped UK sales charts in its debut week, tracking strongly in its second week, while in Japan, it sold over 1.2 million copies with just three days on the market. Read our review for it through here.
