Steam Had Over 90 Million Monthly Users on Average in 2018

Guys, I have a feeling that Steam is actually pretty popular.

Steam is absolutely massive. It is so big that for many, the platform is practically synonymous with PC gaming, even though several of the largest games on PC, such as League of Legends, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Overwatch, are not actually available on it. And in 2018, the platform reached even taller heights, in spite of competition like Epic and Discord launching rival storefronts.

Valve released their year in review report for 2018 today, and they revealed a staggering, flabbergasting stat within it—in 2018, Steam, averaged 90 million active users on average every month. Note, that’s not the total users registered on Steam. That’s not a peak that it hit. That’s the average that the platform got every month. It’s crazy—for context, there are only four home consoles ever that have actually crossed the 90 million units sold mark.

On average, Steam saw 47 million users active daily, and a peak of 18.5 million concurrent users—which is more than the Wii U sold through its entire life. Suffice it to say, Steam is pretty big, guys.
