Nintendo Planning to Revive a “Dead and Buried Game” That Was Officially Cancelled – Rumour

Clearly Nintendo's first party lineup is extremely lacking, so this is something they need to do.

Nintendo’s going berserk with the amount of first party exclusives they’ve got lined up for the Nintendo Switch. Over the coming months of the year, we’ve got the likes of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Astral Chain, and Super Mario Maker 2 to look forward to, to name just a few, on top of games such as Animal Crossing and Pokemon Gen 8, which don’t have exact release dates yet. Clearly, though, they’re not resting on their laurels.

Apparently, they’re looking back to an old project that had once been under development and had been officially cancelled, which they allegedly will be reviving development on for the Nintendo Switch. This is as per Game Informer editor Imran Khan, who spoke about the project on the Kinda Funny Games podcast (transcribed by Nintendo Everything).

“Let me hint at something, I guess,” said Khan. “This is a thing that I’m going to write up at some point as soon as I get some more sources on it. But there’s a game that’s thought to be dead that Nintendo’s reviving, and it’s not one that people would expect. It was very much a title that was dead and buried – very officially cancelled.”

That’s an interesting tidbit, and it’s hard to say at this point what game that could be referring to. The fact that this was a very publicly and “very officially” cancelled game certainly narrows it down a bit, but looking at Nintendo’s current slate of upcoming titles, it’s still hard to predict what this could be referring to. Either way, stay tuned to GamingBolt, and we’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way.

You can watch Khan’s tease in the video below (it’s timestamped, so just hit play).
