Season of the Drifter, Destiny 2’s next big period of content, will be starting soon and Bungie is making changes to how the Eververse works. Essentially, the Prismatic Matrix will be gone and replaced by weekly “unique bundles” of items that can be purchased with Silver. Each bundle will also have an exclusive “vanity” item, which is available only in that bundle.

The Prismatic Matrix is a system that lets players unlock one of 10 items available in Eververse each week. Players could see the item pool beforehand, and if there was nothing worth their while, they save a Prismatic Facet for the next week. Unlocked items were removed from the reward pool, eliminating the possibility of dupes.

Prismatic Facets can still be used up till March 5th, but after that, they can only be converted into 150 Bright Dust. “As always, we will continue to monitor feedback and work to improve the Eververse experience each season. And when we are ready to try something new, we will share those plans directly with you,” said the development team.

While offering direct means to purchase cosmetics is good, players are currently unhappy about the impending removal of the Prismatic Matrix. After all, it offered an avenue to unlock items in the Eververse shop without paying any money or suffering from dupes. Players can still earn Bright Dust and purchase items offered in the weekly rotation, but there’s significantly more RNG involved in that. We’ll see how Bungie handles the criticism going forward.
