Game Pass Is Not Coming To Nintendo Switch Any Time Soon, Says Insider

If this is true, this puts an end to that dream for now.

Just a few days ago, we got rumors that had industry changing implications—that Microsoft and Nintendo may be working together, that the former may bring Game Pass and some games to the latter’s Switch. These rumors were even sort of egged on by Microsoft executives to some capacity.

However, rumors are all they might have been, according to Brad Sams, a well placed insider for all things Microsoft who has previously been known to get information regarding them correct. In a new video where Sams discussed information about the next generation hardware from Microsoft, Sams also addressed the rumors about Game Pass on Switch, noting that while Microsoft does intend for Game Pass to eventually be on all hardware, all information he has heard from multiple sources indicates that it is not happening in the near future.

“There has been a lot of talk out there about Game Pass on the Switch. I’m hearing from multiple sources that is not happening,” Sams said. “Let me qualify, that is definitely not happening in the near term. I can’t ever say never, because Microsoft wants Game Pass on TV’s, they want it on PC’s, they want it on Xbox, they want it everywhere with their XCloud stuff, but as of right now I am hearing from multiple people that it isn’t coming to the Switch. Obviously things could change and all that good stuff, but yeah don’t expect Game Pass on the Switch anytime soon. At least that is what I’m hearing.”

If this is true, this puts an end to that dream for now—although it is interesting to note that he hasn’t yet shot down the possibility of Microsoft games like Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead coming to the Nintendo Switch. Maybe that part of the rumor will see itself being substantiated later this year after all.
