Hoopoo Games’ Risk of Rain 2 is now available on Steam Early Access, releasing out of the blue for PC players. Costing $19.99, the sequel to the roguelike multiplayer shooter features randomized stages, enemies and bosses. Though it can be played solo, the real fun is in fighting with up to three other players for some extra mayhem.
Currently, the plan is to be in early access “for around 12 months.” The developer notes, “We want to make sure the game launches in a state we are happy with and don’t want to rush it.” The early access version contains six playable classes and six bosses, along with 75 items and equipment pieces to play around with. The final version will have 10 characters, 10 stages, over 100 items, and 12 bosses.
Along with being able to play co-op through Steam itself, Risk of Rain 2 has an interesting offer. Buy into early access before March 30th, 12 PM PT and you’ll receive a free copy that can be gifted to a friend. Sure, it’s a pretty short window, but it’s a good deal overall if you planned to get into it eventually with friends.
