Remember CrossCode, Radical Fish Games’ awesome action RPG inspired by the likes of Secret of Mana? The developer has offered an update on its next update, which will finally add the Arena. Though it doesn’t seem like it will release in April, a recent Steam community post confirms that the Arena will be out in the first half of May.

The delay is mostly due to the fact that “a lot of text still needs to be translated.” Update 1.0.4 should be worth the wait though, since it adds the following content:

  • The Arena in Rhombus Square has finally opened and comes with 3 different cups: The Rookie Solo and Team Cup and the Dungeon Boss Cup!
  • New equipment and decorative add-on rewards you can get through the arena!
  • 2 new quests complete with new boss fights
  • A new repeatable Turret Defense challenge mode
  • Several small NPCs hidden throughout CrossWorlds here and there

Along with a dedicated Arena lobby, players can also access the Arena Cup menu with different challenges listed. Depending on one’s performance, they’ll be granted four different types of medals after battles that can be exchanged for Arena Coins. These will grant new equipment and new add-ons. One such add-on includes the Menacing Aura to make Lea much more dangerous at first glance.

If that weren’t enough, more quests will be added as well. The developer is currently hard at work on New Game+ mode as well. “Something you can expect is a very flexible feature that allows you to configure your next playthrough in different ways,” wrote the developer. “You can choose to keep your level, equipment and brush through the game with ease, or go for a challenge and fight harder versions of the enemies and bosses with or without your end game stats & equipment. That’s the idea at least! More details will follow.”

Finally, the post-game scenario DLC is still in development, but at a very early stage currently. Don’t expect a release date any time soon, but the developer assures it’s coming. “It will happen, but it’s also important to us that we don’t rush it so you don’t get a half-baked extension.”

CrossCode is currently available for PC, and will be coming to Nintendo Switch and Xbox One later this year as well.
