Yesterday, Saber Interactive announced that their recently released co-op zombie shooter, World War Z, had sold a million copies worldwide within a week of its launch. While making the announcement, the developer also made remarks about its performance on the Epic Games Store, where it seemed to have done better than expected.
Now we know just how well it has done exactly. Epic Games announced on Twitter today that World War Z has sold over 250,000 units on their storefront, accounting for a quarter of all sales for the game across the globe.
World War Z has seen a strong debut at launch (it debuted on top of UK sales charts as well), and these new figures suggest that its exclusivity on the Epic Games Store on PC doesn’t seem to have impacted its sales at all, contrary to what many might expect. Just last month, we read similar reports for the controversial Metro Exodus as well, which, too, saw strong sales on PC despite its exclusivity to the Epic Games Store.
World War Z is out now for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Congratulations to Saber Interactive on selling over 250,000 units of World War Z so far on the Epic Games store!
WWZ, Satisfactory, Anno 1800, Metro Exodus, Tom Clancy's The Division 2 and so many more games made this a record weekend for Epic Games store. https://t.co/ZDo7wjmB5W
