Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Infinity Ward may be returning to a previously used modern combat setting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but it’s employing new technology to depict it. It was revealed via BusinessWire that the first person shooter would use a new engine to provide an “immersive and photo-realistic” experience. That means new technology and features like photogrammetry, world volumetric lighting, and a new GPU geometry pipeline.

But wait, there’s more. The new engine also employs a hybrid tile-based streaming system with physically-based materials (and new PBR decal rendering). This is in addition to 4K resolution and HDR support, along with DirectX Raytracing for PC users. For the game’s thermal and night vision imaging, spectral rendering has been employed to better depict both modes.

Players can also expect a “cutting edge animation and blend shape system” along with new audio tools. Dolby ATMOS on supported platforms is also confirmed. The developer has also revealed that the PC version will be “fully-optimized” for the platform and developed by Beenox. Like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the PC version will be exclusive to Blizzard’s Battle.net.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be releasing on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For the first time in the series, it will support cross-platform multiplayer.
