Shenmue 3 Delayed Again, This Time To November 2019

The game needs "a little more refinement before being truly finished."

Shenmue 3 has been fervently anticipated since it was impossibly announced at E3 2015, as is apparent from how successful its crowdfunding campaign was, but the game’s faced plenty of delays since. Last year though, it finally seemed like the release date had been set in stone, when it was announced that Shenmue 3 would be releasing on August 27, 2019.

Now, with less than two months to go till its scheduled release date, creator Yu Suzuki has announced on the game’s Kickstarter page that the release date has been pushed back again- this time to November 19, later this year, adding roughly three more months of waiting for the game to release. Suzuki says in his message that though development on the game is nearly finished, developers Ys Net require a little bit more time to be able to polish up the experience.

“Today, Yu Suzuki & Deep Silver would like to give a message concerning the release date,” the message reads. “Shenmue 3 will now release on 19th November, 2019. Whilst almost ready, the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished. We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!”

Here’s hoping the added time results in a better game. Three more months doesn’t seem like too long a wait when we’ve already waiting so long. Shenmue 3 is also promising to be a pretty meaty experience, at twice the length as previous games. New information on the combat, story, setting, and much more has also been made known. Read more on that through here.

Oh, and the game’s going to have forklifts, too.
