Halo Infinite Will Be Receiving Betas, Coming First To Xbox One

Though the betas will be launching on PC a little later, Microsoft promises it's treating the PC version "as a first-class citizen."

We now have a specific release window for Halo Infinite, thanks to Microsoft’s announcement at E3 2019. Holiday 2020 will see the return of Master Chief, when he comes back with what is being billed as a reinvention of the franchise, and also ushers in the next generation of Xbox, while also helping close out the current one (and serving as the first simultaneous PC launch for Halo in a long, long while).

But before we get to the game’s launch, Microsoft will be making sure that all the steps its taking during development are sitting well with audiences. In a new update put up on Halo Waypoint, developers 343 Industries confirmed that Halo Infinite will receive several betas – or “opt-in flights”, as they’re calling them – before it releases. These betas, as per the developer, will “start small and slowly expand out until release.”

Meanwhile, 343 is also confirming that Infinite’s betas will be hitting the Xbox One first, but though PC betas will be coming a little later, the developer still gives assurances that Halo Infinite’s PC version is being treated “as a first-class citizen”. Meanwhile, the update also re-iterates that the upcoming shooter will indeed have split-screen co-op.

Halo Infinite is out in Holiday 2020 for the Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Scarlett– we can expect to hear a great deal more about it at E3 2020, as per Microsoft. In the meantime, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is launching on PC soon, and a beta for the first phase of that launch with Halo Reach is going live imminently.
