In 2017, with Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios delivered what is without a doubt one of the greatest games of the cRPG genre. Many have called Divinity: Original Sin 2 RPG perfection- so naturally, with the developers now turning to make Baldur’s Gate 3, the sequel to what is also considered one of the greatest games of the cRPG genre, people are quite excited about how it will turn out (to put it mildly).

Larian Studios have made it clear that they’ll be improving upon what they did with Original Sin 2 even further with Baldur’s Gate 3, calling it the biggest RPG they’ve ever worked on. And one of the ways they’ll be introducing said improvements is in the game’s multiplayer aspect. Speaking in an interview with Wccftech, Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke said that multiplayer in the Original Sin games wasn’t implemented as well as they’d like, and that they’d be evolving the lessons learned there to deliver a better multiplayer experience in Baldur’s Gate 3.

“Multiplayer will be evolving with what we learned from Original Sin 2,” said Vincke. “The party will be a very big focus this time, like in the Original Sin games, but everything will be enhanced. Multiplayer is something that I don’t think we’ve done as well as we could have in Original Sin. So that’s something that we’d like to evolve.”

Tangible details on Baldur’s Gate 3 have been few and far between so far, but it’s good to hear that Larian aren’t resting on their laurels after the stellar Divinity: Original Sin 2, and are still looking for ways they can hone their craft even further.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is slated to launch for PC and Stadia, but currently has no release date- we just know it won’t be releasing in 2019.
