The Coalition has announced a tech test for Versus mode in Gears 5. It runs from July 19th at 10 AM PDT to 22nd, and then again from July 26th, 10 AM to July 29th. Two multiplayer maps will be made available, along with three modes. The pre-load for the tech test goes live on July 17th at 10 AM PDT, so you can download it beforehand. It’s 15 GB, which isn’t too shabby.

Multiplayer modes will include Arcade, Escalation, and King of the Hill. Bootcamp, training mode, and Tour of Duty will also be available. The latter is a more bite-sized version of the PvP seasonal aspect and will allow players to unlock different Tester Weapon Skins with completed Medals. Three Medals, and you get a Tester Banner that can be carried into Gears 5, along with the skins.

The objective of this tech test is to stress-test servers, and as such, an access queue system will be in place to ensure stability. If you happen to run into a queue while accessing the beta, that’s why. More Versus information will be revealed next week with the ELEAGUE Invitational tournament also kicking off on July 13th, and running till 14th.

The tech test will be available for both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers on PC and Xbox One. You can also gain access by pre-ordering the game.

Gears 5 is out on September 10th for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
