Respawn Entertainment has been facing a lot of problems with cheating in Apex Legends, its free to play battle royale title. Reports of cheating have been on the rise in the past few weeks, especially due to the launch of Ranked mode. In a recent Reddit post, Respawn community manager Jay Frechette broke down what the developer is doing to combat cheaters.

The major points include machine learning for detecting and automatically banning cheaters, two-factor authentication in some regions with high-risk accounts, and continuously adapting to new cheats. It’s even using an old trick from Titanfall where it match-makes cheaters and spammers into matches together. Frechette also clarified that players partying up with cheaters, even if they weren’t specifically cheating, still counts as an offense.

Over time, the developer will also be increasing resources to battle cheating, and encourages players to report any cheaters they find. Frechette stated, “The war against cheaters will be ongoing and remains a high priority for us. There will always be work to do, improvements to make, and new things to adapt to. We’d like to thank the players that have been getting involved with helping us squash cheaters over the last week whether it be submitting reports or assisting with the vetting process for suspicious behavior.”

Apex Legends saw the launch of Season 2 “Battle Charge” at the beginning of July. It revamped the map, added the L-Star as a new weapon, and a new Legend in the form of Wattson.
