Ubisoft Boss Would Like To See A Mainline Assassin’s Creed Game Set In China

How cool would it be for an Assassin's Creed game to be set in the Three Kingdoms period?

Assassin’s Creed is a series that consistently takes us to some excellent locations. Even when the series has been at its worst, it hasn’t failed to take us to some excellent recreations of historical settings. Where it will take us next is always one of the most talked about things with any new Assassin’s Creed game.

Speaking recently in an interview (via Niko Analysts senior partner Daniel Ahmad on Twitter), Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot spoke about what settings we might be seeing in Assassin’s Creed next, and one name that he mentioned was China. Guillemot said that though he cannot confirm anything at this time, he would like to see a mainline game in the series set in China.

This is not, of course, a confirmation, but it’s good to know that it is at least something that Ubisoft is thinking about. The developers could pull so much from China’s rich history to implement in an Assassin’s Creed game- the very prospect is mouth-watering. We have seen an Assassin’s Creed game in China, with the second instalment of its Assassin’s Creed Chronicles subseries, but that wasn’t, of course, a mainline game.

As for where we’ll be heading in the next Assassin’s Creed game – which is due out in 2020 – it’s pretty much all but confirmed at this point that the game will be set in Scandinavia during Viking times. Recently, a leak spilled the beans a great many details on the game, and while it shouldn’t be taken as completely credible information – like with any other leak – it’s worth reading through.
