Rainbow Six Siege

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege has been an ongoing success for the company, pulling in a massive amount of revenue and player engagement. The game shows no signs of slowing down, either, as more content is coming at a steady pace. But apparently, the ambition is even more, at least from the game’s Esports Director, who has his sights on some lofty goals.

In talking with DualShockers, Wei Yue spoke about the continued rise of esports and how its become more and more mainstream and acceptable. During this he dropped the idea that he eventually wants the game to reach 100 operators over a roughly 10 year plan. “We want to be here in 10 years; we are here to stay,” said Yue. “We want to bring 100 Operators to the game, so we have a long way to go.”

It’s quite the goal, but at the same time, with the upcoming Operation: Ember Rise expansion, it will bring the game’s total Operator count to 50, which fits pretty well with Yue’s timeline. The game is one of the top GaaS (Games as a Service) success stories, so it’s not totally out there. Rainbow Six Siege is available now.
