Fallout 76 – Bethesda Investigating Missing Scrap Following Fallout 1st Introduction

Bethesda says that "resolving this issue is currently our top priority."

Fallout 1st

Bethesda created quite the controversy when it announced Fallout 1st, a premium subscription service for Fallout 76. For $12.99 (or $99.99 per year) you get private worlds, a scrapbox with infinite space for crafting components and other “goodies”. Unfortunately, and perhaps unsurprisingly, various problems have been reported for the same.

Along with private worlds apparently not being private (random strangers could reportedly join them), some users complained about the scrapbox simply losing their scrap. So if you invested lots of time into gathering said scrap, it’s now gone. Bethesda seems aware of the same at the very least.

In a new statement to GameSpot, the publisher said that a “small number” of players were experiencing the issue. “Following the release of Update 14 earlier this week, the development team has been looking into player reports of scrap going missing. We have some details to share with you on our findings and our plan moving forward. Our initial investigation indicated that this was a display issue, and that no items had gone missing.

“However, we have since found that a small number of players have in fact experienced a loss of scrap items after placing them into the Scrapbox and then loading into a world. Resolving this issue is currently our top priority. We are also exploring ways to restore the missing items. We are working to address this with a hotfix as soon as possible, and we will let players know once we are ready to deploy the fix.”

We’ll have to wait and see whether a fix will be provided for private worlds being open to random players or taking place in preexisting instances. Fallout 76 has more on the way with the Wastelanders update, which has been delayed to next year. Stay tuned for more details and possible fixes.
