Remedy Is “Extremely Happy” To Be working With Microsoft Again

It's like Remedy's homecoming.

You’d be forgiven for missing it, but at X019, it was announced that Remedy is back to working on an Xbox-exclusive – this time in the guise of CrossfireX, their campaign for the insanely popular multiplayer shooter in Asia (seriously, it has over 650 million monthly players) that they are working on with SmileGate.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Remedy waxed eloquent on getting the chance to work with Microsoft again – remember, Alan Wake and Quantum Break were both Xbox-exclusive, before Remedy branched out with Control – noting that while their partnership had strictly been with SmileGate, who had in turn partnered with Microsoft, they were glad to be working with the Xbox team again.

“How we started, this was a developer-to-developer relationship with SmileGate. That’s been the strand for us for the longest time. And then SmileGate branched out and partnered with Microsoft. We’re extremely happy to be working with these guys again, because there’s a lot of friends that we have on this side of the table,” Remedy’s Tuukka Taipalvesi said.

It’s good to see Remedy working on a game that’s entirely new for them – remember, this company has never actually worked on a first person shooter before. I am very interested to see how they take one of the most popular games in the world and translate it to a short, story driven campaign – imposing their sensibilities upon it, as well as an all new (for them) genre.
