Ubisoft’s pipeline is already pretty packed with games that are yet to come, and it’s not surprising that there are many of them that we don’t yet know about. One of those, however, won’t ever see the light of day, having been cancelled by Ubisoft- and apparently, it was pretty deep in development.

This news emerges via Ubisoft graphics programmer Louis de Carufel, who took to Twitter and said in now-deleted tweets (via Wccftech) that a project he’d been working on for three years has been internally cancelled by the publisher. In a follow-up tweet, however, he also confirmed that none of the 200+ people at Ubisoft Montreal who were working on the game lost their jobs, and will instead by redistributed to other projects at the studio- of which, de Carufel says, there are over 15.

Meanwhile, over on ResetEra, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier also stated that the game was an unannounced new IP being developed by the Watch Dogs team, and that it was supposed to be similar to Destiny. “Lots of big changes at Ubisoft,” he added.

The big changes Schreier is referring to came to light earlier in the year, when Ubisoft said that the critical and commercial failure of Ghost Recon Breakpoint (and, to a lesser extent, the disappointing sales of The Division 2) had made them reassess their approach to future projects- which, of course, led to the delay of multiple major upcoming releases. Reportedly, there have also been big internal changes at Ubisoft, with a renewed focus on pitches for new projects being unique ideas.
