Death Stranding has, in spite of divided reception from critics and audiences, managed to sell pretty well the world over since its launch. It became Sony’s second biggest IP launch of the year in the UK (behind Days Gone), while in Japan it sold 185,909 units at retail in its first three days. Not surprisingly, the game’s also performed quite well digitally in Japan.

As per the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu (via Twinfinite), Death Stranding has sold 109,375 in Japan through the PlayStation Store (up until November 24), which is nearly a third of its total sales up until that point (the total sales being 345,186 units). Considering the fact that the Japanese market usually tends to stick with physical purchases, those are pretty good figures.

Death Stranding’s sales are dwarfed in comparison by Pokemon Sword and Shield, which sold 629,636 digital copies in that period (or 26.5 per cent of its total sales). Also mentioned are Luigi’s Mansion 3 (72,600 digital copies sold), and Persona 5 Royal (60,473 digital copies sold).
